"Encampment"
This pastel explores color, light and shadow as sun filters through the trees and falls upon a group of tepees grouped along a sparkling river. I love the autumn colors of the foliage and the tepees themselves playing against the cooler shades of blue and green in the rippling water.

"Littlest Cowboy "
This painting is one in a series I am doing of ranch and farm kids having fun, working and just living life. This little "cowpoke" is probably looking out over a herd, as well as the spread, that he will one day inherit from his dad, just as he had from his own father years before.

"Lone Ranger"
Bison are wonderfully majestic animals and certainly a great symbol of America. I have done numerous paintings of them and have enjoyed depicting them each and every time. This small rendering is no exception - and this "gentleman" is a male deserving of respect and a portrait, hopefully giving him his "due." This painting will be available at the National Western Art Show & Auction in Ellensburg, WA in May 2008.

"Pathfinder"
This most magnificent of mammals is one that I often choose to depict - this time in Yellowstone with a small hitch-hiker on his back. This is something we often see with horses in pastures and sometimes between these much larger creatures and their smaller "tag-alongs".

"Bringin' Him Home"
This painting is of a tiny cowgirl dynamo on a very large horse barrel racing at a local rodeo this past summer. She handled the horse, and the barrels, as well as any of the older and more experienced racers there, winning my respect, as well as that of the entire rodeo crowd, as she brought her gelding "on home" down that final stretch to the finish line.

"Mutton Buster II"
This is one in a series of paintings I am doing of young cowboys and girls enjoying ranch life, rodeos, and "critters" that they love. I hope that you find this "young'uns" as much fun to look at as I did to paint.
