"Dining Alfresco"
This acrylic painting is a new favorite of mine. The reference photo is one supplied by a dear friend's husband. Although we often have moose visiting around "our neck of the woods" I really liked this water view and the idea of this youngster getting a treat to eat along the way.
"Bugle Boy " I think that elk are magnificent animals and I wanted to paint them once again - this time in pastel. This work depicts a bull elk bugling with his "harem", or herd, in the background of the piece. I like the restful colors and the unusual cropping on the work. I am proud to say that this piece was an award winner at the annual RRAFA juried show (2006) in Spokane, WA.
"Flicker"
This acrylic painting is of a frequent visitor to the woods surrounding our home. This is a Northern Flicker, a member of the woodpecker family, rather a large bird - beautiful in my opinion - and fun to watch. I tried to capture a mood in this piece with the unusual background coloring. I hope you enjoy it as much I enjoyed painting it!
"Heron Blues" This blue heron is pictured along a shoreline in northeastern Washington State, but these beautiful birds are seen in many regions of the United States. They are certainly lovely creatures, often depicted by artists, and I couldn't resist either after getting some wonderful reference phtographs from a friend.
"Forest Recluse "
This large, extremely beautiful, and normally shy, woodpecker has been a visitor to the woods around our home this spring. I certainly had to paint this bird after my husband got a number of wonderful reference photos for me to work from!
This pastel piece is beautifully matted and framed, and under glass. This painting is featured in Wildlife Art Magazine's "What's New - Originals" - Jan/Feb 2008. This painting was part of the Women Artists of the West Show at Hilligoss Galleries (on Michigan Ave.) in Chicago, IL. - Nov., 2007.
