A true icon of the west, bison (or buffalo) are a favorite of mine and a subject you will find in many of my paintings. I am especially pleased with this new pastel that captures the herd in a horizontal format. The landscape is peaceful and gives way to a forested area beyond populated with a variety of trees including birch or aspen. I wanted to capture the feel of the old west with honor given to this majestic animal.
