Small and mighty . . . and most certainly, "larger than life." The tiny hummingbirds are not only beautiful, but fascinating to watch as they eat and interact at the feeders near our windows and in the woods surrounding our home. I chose to celebrate the tiniest here, the colorful Calliope Hummingbirds. Using scratchboard techniques, inks and acrylic paints I wanted to depict the drama of their flight and "battle dances" showing their lovely feathers and colors from multiple angles in my piece.
