This piece is the forth in my "forgotten" series of paintings where I am exploring toys, stuffed animals, games, etc. that were once near and dear to some child's heart, but have now been left behind for other, more "grown up" interests. In this particular collection of toys I felt these items were actually not forgotten, but had in fact been handed down from brother to brother...father to son...to drive yet another day in a sandpit of imagination and dreams or face the first friendly competition of red versus black on a checkerboard battlefield.
