I have enjoyed painting many pieces of herding dogs working with sheep over the years, but this one quickly became a new favorite of mine. There are many things I like about it . . . the horizontal format which works well with the layout of the subjects, the beautiful colors in both the sky and sheep achieved by my choice of medium and the sense of motion in the painting. All these seemed to come together as I worked to create the vision of the piece I had in my mind's eye from the start.
