Recently we were blessed with an up-close encounter with a huge herd of elk near my studio. Although they are often in the area, it is not so often that we are able to be quite so close to them for such a relatively long period of time. That's when the magic happened...and I was able to get so many wonderful reference photos from which to paint. I hope you enjoy this first piece from that chance magical encounter.
